Al Green- Livin' For You 1973

The thing that single handedly propelled Al Green into super stardom in the early 70's was his voice.  Its something so mellow, so smooth, and so soulful that it almost hurts to listen.  In this album, Green is in top form.  My favorite cut is the B Side of the title track, called "Sweet Sixteen."  Its a little more upbeat than the usual Al Green cut, and is something that I wish we would of heard more of.

As far as sampling is concerned, on thing remains true about all Al Green records, there is always a dope intro that you can chop the hell out of on every song. I do apologize for the quality of this recording, there is some very audible pops and scratches, nothing to bad though.  Enjoy!

Hamilton Bohannon- Stop & Go 1972

Hamilton Bohannon was the king of Funky Disco.  This album however touches on a more soulful vibe than his later releases.  Another album that is so full of usable samples (especially the B side) that it might make your head spin. Get your sampler ready!

Billy Paul-War of the Gods 1973

War Of The Gods

I'll start by saying that I love Billy Paul, and this record is his best in my mind.  More samples on this record than you could shake a stick at (whatever that means).  The music, the artwork, everything is on point here... A True Gem!

First Post!!!

Well, for my first post I guess I should say a little about myself.  My name is Tyler (friends call me T-Bone), I'm 23, currently kickin it in Va Beach.  I produce music and am a self confessed audio fiend!

About a year ago I was turned onto the whole blog scene and became really interested in blogs that specialized in free Funk/Soul/Jazz LPs.  I soon became discouraged though, as a majority of these blogs were uploading LPs that had low bitrates and/or scratchy vinyls.  So I have now decided to start my own blog to remedy this.

This blog is geared towards producers looking for songs to sample, and will feature mainly Soul, Funk, Jazz, Disco, and some Rock records, with most of them being from the 70's, 60's, and some 50's.

All LPs are rips from my own vinyl collection.  All records are cleaned before ripping, and are ripped using a Vestax CM-02 turntable, a Ortofon MC-1 Turbo needle, and an Apogee Duet.  All LPs will be in either AIFF, Wav, or 320 kbps!

Now Lets Get This Thing Started!!!!
